I haven’t blogged since before Oktoberfest. A blessing you say? Maybe. But I prefer to think of my blog entries as necessary building blocks to the new year, heading into the next Oktoberfest. You see, the Ale House year begins the day after Oktoberfest, always a Sunday. Oktoberfest is our New Years Eve. And that day after, Sunday, is New Years Day. Alas, we do not celebrate New Years Day like maybe we could or should because New Years Eve is always celebrated to the max and there is nothing left for the next day. But that could change, right? A two-day Oktoberfest?
Indeed, the month after Oktoberfest is spent in recovery. And this year’s recovery was especially well met with mellow attitudes and a kind of languorous mood. The new year looks good because Oktoberfest was just too good again.
I could recount for you the details of the day that made Oktoberfest one of the best – perhaps the best – yet. But I don’t want to do that. Instead, I will say that Gardner is back. Oktoberfest is back. The Chair Luge is back. And Masskrugstemmen (Steinholding Competition) is just begun! Thank you all who were there; physically and otherwise. It’s just not as good if we don’t have at least 2,000 people doing what we are supposed to do: Party In The Street.
