Blue Monday Is Back

Bees Deluxe Will Be the First Band, Monday, Nov. 11, 6pm

In the interest of hindsight, we just had our first Blue Monday with Bees Deluxe. So this post is a bit late for that. But please read on. Cause this is what we did and this is what we are going to do!

Gardner Ale House is bringing back Blue Monday. It was Monday, March 16, 2020, that the last Blue Monday band was to play, but cancelled. We all know why and what happened next. Now, more than 4 years later, the Ale House is ready to bring back the blues. I’ve been quoted as saying “After the last two years of doing Blue Mondays successfully at our location in the Brew Barn at Red Apple Farm, we decided to bring it back to the Ale House. Plus, certain people have been driving me crazy begging me to bring Blue Monday back. So, here we go.”  For trivia fans, the last band to play Blue Monday at the Ale House was the L&M Rhythm Kings. The first band to play this time around was Bees Deluxe, last night, Veteran’s Day. That gig is done and it was a resounding (pun, yes) success!

We’ve always been a Monday kind of place. It always seemed to us that this day was special and needed some kind of special celebrating. It is the most prominent day in the week – don’t you agree? Monday is prominent? What would you call it? We feel it should be celebrated with a joyful crescendo, propelling you into your duties thence on.

Note that Mondays at the Ale House also include Buck A Shuck oysters – dollar live oysters with cocktail sauce and horseradish while they last. Mondays continue to thrive at the Ale House and Blue Monday is our latest addition to the day least likely to be known as anyone’s favorite! Monday needs us. How else can I put it?

Coincidentally, the Ale House celebrated the Black Ale Project on our first Blue Monday. Each year Moon Hill and Gardner Ale House releases an Imperial Stout “From America, With Love” in honor of American Veterans. One dollar from every pint sold is donated to the Montachusett Veterans Outreach Center in Gardner. So we had blues, oysters and presented the MVOC with a check for around $1650. And the beer is truly an elixir! For some people, Monday is the best day of the week!
