Let me begin by saying we are always open, 7 days a week, lunch and dinner. I know there was a hiccup in our hours for a few months there, but that is over. We are always here, always at the ready for in house, take out, or for catering. Business lunch anyone? Your place or mine?
Please allow me to hold forth on my recent experiences of the week…
I’ve been walking the floor lately, ‘en mask’ of course, and chatting with people, some of whom I haven’t spoken to in almost a year. Also, I sat at the bar Wednesday for the first time in recent memory and had a chat with a favorite friend, Don Laprise. I haven’t had the chance to speak with him in quite a while. I had the chance to chat with yet another group of friends on Monday and they were raving about the new menu. All of these people who I used to see on a regular basis are still out there, waiting, waiting. It’s impressive how we are all holding it together, marking time. I am glad that I’ve been emerging a little from my hideout in the cellar, visiting a bit. Remembering what it used to be like, what it will be like again. We are all so hunkered down. So patient. Sneaking out now and then for a bit of air and a bit of social interaction and of course, perhaps a sumptuous repast at the Ale House, for which we are ever so grateful. It’s been like a long winter, this 2020. Didn’t they used to have those? Years when there was no summer? I seem to remember about 8 or 10 years ago not having much of a summer. I can deal. And so can we all.
All I can say is thank you for being here, when you can
